The Ventures 60th Historic Original Collection CD Posted on July 23, 2019 . Pony Canyon just released a new Double-CD on July 17, 2019, entitled The Ventures 60th Historic Original Collection. The concept is that DIsc 1 covers songs recorded by The Ventures in chronological order from the early years until today: each group member is listed for the different tracks. There are 21 tracks, two of which are long medleys with many songs included. The version of Caravan which is so well-known as The Ventures’ encore number, features Mel Taylor on drums. On Disc 2, all of the songs are Ventures’ original compositions, from the beginning of the group’s history with The McCoy, written by Don Wilson and Bob Bogle, through the early years and the time period when the members wrote songs exclusively for the Japanese fans, including songs that are still popular for karaoke even today – all of the Ventures members at that time participated in composing so you can see and hear the collaborative efforts of Don, Bob, Mel, Nokie, Gerry and John Durrill. Moving onward, there are more songs written over the past 20 years, several written by Bob Spalding. The booklet features many photographs along with articles in both Japanese and English: Pony Canyon asked Bob Spalding and me to write our thoughts so I think there will be a lot of interesting information for everyone. This is a worthwhile addition to anyone’s collection. Below are the track listings:. Category: Music
