Return from Japan

Return from Japan
Posted on October 1, 2009 .

Finally, after 54 shows in just under 3 months, the 2009 Japan Summer Tour is over – after travelling from Okinawa in the south to Wakkanai — way up in the North of Hokkaido. The group returned to the US today, and will be taking a few weeks to “chill out” before undertaking any US gigs and/or recording.

We would like to thank all the thousands of Japanese fans who came out to enjoy the 50th Anniversary concerts – we love you all. Also, special thanks to EMI Japan and Pony Canyon Records, (both our record companies in Japan) who released a number of new CDs this summer, to M&I Company, our promoters in Japan for 20 years, to Taiyo Music, our sub-publisher in Japan, to Aria Guitars and Canopus Drums, as well as NHK, the national TV station in Japan who aired a 90-minute special program about The Ventures on September 6 – and will repeat it this Sunday, October 4.

Last but not least, huge thanks to our amazing crew headed by Hayafune-san, our stage manager for many years, and all the sound and lighting techs, without whom the shows wouldn’t be the success that they are – and to our new road manager, Yasu Tachikawa, who made all the travelling enjoyable at best – and bearable at worst on those long and tiring “K-Days”, (that’s killer days in case you didn’t know)!

Thanks again to everyone in Japan – see you next year!
