The Ventures performed to a record crowd at the first show of the 2007 Santa Monica Twilight Dance Series.
The concert organizers estimated the crowds to be more than 15,000 people. It was said to be the largest opening night crowd in the 30 year history of the Summer Concert Series.
The weather cooperated, and thousands of fans and music lovers thronged the pier, with many more hanging out on the beach listening to classic surf rock music.
